Catamaran cruise to Flat Island (Ile Plate) 50 euros per person

Take a cruise to the best snorkeling spot in Mauritius.  Flat island is very protected and the corals are live and blooming !  It seems that all the fish have decided to move to this side of the island.

You will embark from Grand Bay and cruise up to the Coin de Mire islet for breathtaking views.  You then continue your trip to Flat island where you will stop for lunch on board.  You can then swim to the beach or enjoy the snorkeling.  The catamaran provides what you need for the snorkeling.

Cultural Mauritius

Eureka House -Moka

The créole house Euréka, at Moka, in the centre on the island, is one of the best preserved period residences still in good condition. Its ancient architecture is of a rare beauty, but it is interesting for more than one reason. The museum harbours real treasures, such as antique furniture, old photographs. In addition, the magnificent garden and waterfalls around the house contribute to the beauty of the place.

 Grand Bassin - Hindu Temple

Nestling in an extinct volcanic crater, Grand Bassin lake is considered sacred by Mauritian Hindus, who make a pilgrimage to it every year for the Maha Shivaratri festival (usually in February/March). At any time of year, though, the emerald-hued lake is a tranquil spot.

We suggest you to take a mini bus trip to visit the whole south of the island, including the Black River Gorges, Le Morne, Riambel and Souillac.  You can also stop at the tea plantations discover how they make the local tea.

Not far from Grand Bassin is Chamarel and the earth of 7 colours.

City trips

There are 3 main cities that we highly recommend that you visit.  Hereunder are some sightseeing city suggestions:

Port Louis

Departure in the morning by bus (26 Rs from Grand Bay)  so you can get a feel for the local bus adventure!  Stop by at the fruit and vegetable market and dare to drink one of their typical drinks: the Alouda.  It is a type of milkshake with little seeds of Toucmaria, that are supposed to help you digest.

Visit China Town.  Enter in the little Chinese pharmacies and discover all sorts of natural remedies against just about anything.

For lunch, either go to the Caudan Waterfront and try a traditional Indian dish called Masala Dosa (80 Rs) that you eat with your hands while you enjoy the view of the Port of the city, OR eat at a typical Chinese Restaurant where their speciality is the Dim Sum (steamed chinese ravioli).  Here you will pay around 200 Rs per person for your meal.

Curepipe

We depart early for Curepipe and head straight for a TUINA Traditional Chinese Massage (600 Rs)  We will also visit the Crater of Trou aux Cerfs and the local Market.  We recommend that you do this trip on wednesday when the textile market is on.  This is a great time to stock up on souvenirs and presents for your family and friends back home.
